Welcome to the Chipmunks!
The Chipmunk Classroom is a busy space managed by Sara Ward, Tasia McDonald and Michelle Milligan. Seventeen energetic, unique preschoolers, along with their families make up our learning community. The routines and rituals we have established allow children to grow and learn in the following areas:
Do we play all day? YES! But our work is play, and we learn by doing!
CHIPMUNK CHATTER:
For the past few weeks we have been learning about having a pet! Our class, teachers included, represent dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, hermit crabs, and horses! We are learning how to take care of the variety of pets by reading books and telling stories, acting out in dramatic play and drawing pictures. The most exciting thing has been the addition of Ms. Sara’s two hermit crabs, Pinch Baby and Andre the Giant Hermit Crab, to our classroom. We are learning how to keep the tank clean, what and when to feed them, and how much fun they can be! There are still some children who are not so sure about those eye stalks and pinchers, but whether they want to touch the crabs or not, looking at them is very interesting!
Wiggly Eyes (can be found at the Dollar store!)
Tissues and Wipes (always, always, always!)
Dress up clothes – clothes that are a little bigger than the average preschooler but not grown up size are ideal!
